Do annoying pests interfere with your outdoor activities?

annoying mosquitoesWeekly Roundup 5/16 – We are starting the first part of our Healthier and Cleaner Home Inside and Out series using the outdoors as our theme.

Everyone loves to enjoy their yards but unfortunately so do the flying and biting insects as well!!  Here is a simple and quick spray recipe that you can use on clothing and patio furniture cushions!  We will be using our essential oils and packaging.

Essential Oils

Lavender

A wonderful classic blend of aromatic lavenders. This magnificent bouquet contains Italian, Bulgarian and French lavenders. Aroma is floral, herbaceous, fresh, light with balsamic woody undertones.

Excellent for relief of pain from sunburn and minor burns and keeps insects away. One of the safest for use with children and the elderly.

Blends well with Bay, Bergamot, Chamomile, Citronella, Clary Sage, Geranium, Jasmine, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Pine, Thyme, Rosemary, Rosewood, and Ylang-ylang.

Tea Tree

Tea Tree is an anti-fungal healing oil steam distilled from the Australian Ti (Tea) Tree. Tea tree oil works well for sinus relief, sore throats, and chest-colds as well as topical antiseptics for skin injuries, rubs for arthritis, and inhalants for asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory conditions.

The health benefits of Tea Tree Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as an antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, balsamic, cicatrisant, expectorant, fungicide, insecticide, stimulant and sudorific substance.

Rosemary

Rosemary can be used to stimulate skin cells, improve dry or mature skin, ease wrinkles, heal burns and wounds, and clear acne by regulating oil secretions and fighting bacteria that clog pores.

The mental benefits of this oil include a caffeine like effect that combats mental fatigue and sluggishness as well as enhance mental clarity aiding in alertness and concentration.

Easy Quick Outdoors Insect Repellent Spray

Spray on clothing and outside cushions!

There are several ways to make this type of spray.  Be sure to use essential oils that are useful in the practice of aromatherapy.  Read up on the essential oils with bug repelling properties to help you decide which scent is best for you and the end results are what you are looking for!

This mixture could also be sprayed on your dog’s collar to help keep pests off of him/her, but please do not use on cats, as many essential oils can be toxic to cats.  Remember to use extreme caution at all times with your pets!  As always, please use in small amounts to make sure there are no reactions!!!
